Santa Clara High School
Class of 1969

THE SC CLASS OF ’69 ROCKS !

(September 28, 2019)

It’s hard to believe that it has been 50 years,

Since graduation day with its joy and goodbye tears.

Isn’t it great that after all this time,

This many cared enough to return to the scene of the crime?

We’ve all experienced a lot over these past 5 decades,

But time can’t erase the memories of our escapades.

It was the beach we could go to just be kids,

Amongst the sand dunes things would happen that God forbids.

But alas we’re done with all those youthful misdeeds,

We’re too busy with retirement and grandkid needs.

Whereas in High School having children may have given us pause,

Now many of my classmates are grandmas & Grandpas.

So, I’d like to give a shout out to the grandkids who must sacrifice,

By allowing their nanas & papas to join us and make nice.

Many of you have traveled long distances,

Just to renew many old acquaintances.

It is real special how many here at our 50th Anniversary,

Have known each other since our years in Elementary.

I am so glad to welcome first timers at long last,

I hope you have as much fun as we’ve had in the past.

So go ahead, share some old times with your classmates,

See who remembers and who best recapitulates.

This is the time to compare your fading recollections,

With your old friends and their own reflections.

Once you do so, I think you’ll find,

Just how little we’ve all left behind.

So, we started with …

“Sin, Sex, Booze Wine,”

We’re the Class of 69”

We’re now at …

“High Fiber, Vitamins & Hydrate,”

“We’re retired at 68”

So, let me tip my glass to the Santa Clara Class of ’69,

I think we’ve aged like mighty fine wine!

Respectfully submitted:

Mark & Joyce
